Woodland planting in dry & dappled shade

Bay area woodland essentially means planting in dry shade, the extent of which varies according to the aspect of the site. This planting is located on the north side of a fence and under a high canopy, so enough dappled light gets in to use drought tolerant, traditionally full-sun plants like lavender and lamb’s ear, as well as dogwood and forget-me-not. The more thirsty plants are ideally placed in the low spots of the planting bed.
